Overview

Menu Path: File > Open Database

The SiteFX/ Data Model system is composed of two database files. One holds the data and is referred to as the data database, the second contains the tools and functions described by this document, called the menu or interface database (i.e. SiteFX).

SiteFX must be told where the data database is. Once this linking process has been completed once, it does not need to be done again unless one of the following situations occur:

1.  As new releases of the SiteFX occur, this function would be used to link the new SiteFX to the data database.

2.  If the data database name is ever changed, this function would be used to link to the new filename.

3.  If the data database is ever moved to a different directory, this function would be used to link to the new directory.

4.  If the user has more than one data database, this function would be used to switch between the two databases.

As new versions of SiteFX are released, new fields may be required to be added to the data model. While re-linking, this tool will also alert to the user whether or not fields are missing from their data model. SiteFX can make these changes automatically.
