Validation of chemistry table sample names and dates is a two step process. First, the sample names must be validated. Second, the sample dates must be validated. Validation must be done in this order as the sample date validation is based on matching sample names between the chemistry table and the sample request table.
1. Ensure the Name Check tab is selected and press the Check Chemistry Data button. SiteFX will then check the chemistry table and display the number of errors found for both sample name and date.
2. To see the errors, press the Sample Name button.
3. To correct the Sample Name, there are two methods. In the first method, the correct sample name can be typed directly into the blue box. Alternatively, one can click once on the invalid sample name which will place it in the Old Name box, and once on the correct sample name from the Available box placing it in the New Name box. Pressing the Update All Matching Records button will then update the records in the chemistry table from the old name to new name.
If required, a Delete All Matching Records button is available. Pressing this button would delete all records that match the Old Name box.
Caution! The Delete All Matching Records button is seldom used as many records could be wiped out by pressing this button. There is no ‘undo’ for this function so exercise caution.
4. Once all of the Sample Names have been corrected. Press the Check Chemistry Data button again. The number of errors beside the sample name should be zero. The number of errors next to the Sample Date button will also likely be reduced since correcting the sample will allow more correct sample dates to be found.
5. Press the Sample Date button to see any errors concerning the sample dates. SiteFX will list all records without matching sample dates in the lower half of the form.
6. Similar to correcting sample names. Sample dates can be corrected by choosing the old and new date as appropriate.
Note: When the ‘old’ sample date is chosen, the list of Available Dates will be limited to only those dates in the database which have matching sample names between the chemistry and sample request tables.
Once finished, pressed the Check Chemistry Data button again and the number of errors for both sample names and sample dates should read zero.
