Instructions for installing VIEWLOG on a network. Part 1. Network Server Program Installation: Begin by performing a full installation of VIEWLOG on your network server. Once complete, you may also want to copy the installation source file VLW2.EXE into the server directory where the program is installed (usually c:\Program Files\viewlog2). This file is also used for workstation client installations, so it is handy to have on the server (if not, you will have to use the VIEWLOG CDROM to perform a workstation client installation). Start VIEWLOG on the server to test that the installation is correct. Write down the full directory path where the installation was completed. You will need to perform a network client installation. Part 2: Network Licence Key Server Installation Once the software is installed the Licence Key Server needs to be installed and started on the computer that has the network key. Any computer on the network can act as the license key server. The network must also have the Netbios protocal installed. Netbios is included with the NetBeui protocal drivers in Windows, or, you can enable Netbios over TCP/IP by choosing the "Enable Netbios over TCP/IP" option in the Internet Protocal, Advanced, WINS Tab. Run the self extracting program KeyServerSetup and unpack the files into the directory c:\program files\viewlog2\keylok on the network server. Once unpacked, run the file ServerInstall.bat to install the software and start the network key service. The network key service is called ParClass.exe. You can confirm that have any problems use Windows Task Manager to conform that the service is running. Part 3: Client Workstation Installation 3.1 Minimum Install - VIEWLOG Started from the Server On each client, begin a normal VIEWLOG installation (from either CDROM or VLW2.EXE on the server), but choose the Network Client Workstation installation option. During client installation you will need to enter the full network server directory name where VIEWLOG was installed (from Step 1). For example: \\MyServer\cDrive\Program Files\viewlog2 3.2 Full Install (Laptop Configuration) Laptop users who also have occaisonal access to a regular portable hardware key can perform a full installation of VIEWLOG on their computer. When VIEWLOG starts it will automatically check for a network license if a local key is not found. Part 4: Server Licence Monitoring: The number of key licenses in use at any time can be monitored two ways: 1. Start VIEWLOG, and choose Options, About VIEWLOG, Key Options. 2. Start the program LanMon on the key server.
